.....Owl.....

I woke up at about 2:30 am last nite and couldnt go back to sleep. About 10 minutes upon waking up I heard an owl hooting. I looked out my window but didnt see anything. It sounded like it was on top of my apt complex (im on the 1st floor). Ive seen an owl before perched on top of my apartments a few months back so this would be my 2nd experience with an owl. I opened my window so owl could catch my scent or something in an attempt to bond with him/her. What does this mean?
